CiteSeerX - Document Details (Isaac Councill, Lee Giles, Pradeep Teregowda): Abstract. The Sloan Digital Sky Survey has already doubled the number of spectroscopically identified white dwarfs. However, there remains a wealth of white dwarfs in the McCook & Sion catalog for which little or nothing is known. We have thus undertaken a spectroscopic survey of all Northern hemisphere DA white. CiteSeerX - Document Details (Isaac Councill, Lee Giles, Pradeep Teregowda): We present the full spectroscopic white dwarf and hot subdwarf sample from the SDSS first data release, DR1. We find white dwarf stars of various types, hot subdwarf stars, and an additional objects we have identified as uncertain white dwarf stars. Of the white dwarf stars, are non-magnetic DA types.

We present a spectroscopically identified catalog of 70 DA white dwarfs (WDs) from the LAMOST pilot survey. Thirty-five are found to be new identifications after cross-correlation with the Eisenstein et al. and Villanova catalogs. The effective temperature and gravity of these WDs are estimated by Balmer lines fitting. Most of them are hot WDs. In , Sion co-authored the Catalogue of Spectroscopically Identified White Dwarf Stars with George P. McCook. The book was converted to an online directory by Villanova University and contains o identified white dwarf stars.

The catalog of McCook and Sion () is a compilation of the observational data of spectroscopically identified white dwarfs. In order to classify the stellar populations presumably present in this catalog a set of variables describing their properties should be adopted. CiteSeerX - Document Details (Isaac Councill, Lee Giles, Pradeep Teregowda): The most recent version of the Catalog of Spectroscopically Identified White Dwarfs lists white dwarf stars. Among these stars are white dwarfs that have either reliable trigonometric parallaxes or color-based distance moduli which place them at a distance within 20 pc of the Sun.
